This is a brand new Story from Dwarf Fortress. it is about a great fortress which fell to the Goblins from the Mountain Range behind it.
What Ekroum was like
Ekroum was a black fortress, it always was, always is. it was like many other fortresses, it was rich and it has masses after masses of people flocking in and out. unlike Oriesmin, Ekroum was a very corrupted place, the Kings were bribed, the Guards were 'Distracted' when some illegal product was coming in as long as the Guards got some. it was a mess, and knowing Goblins, they cannot resist a dark place like this. it was a Fortress which was practically built with Goblin Battles in mind.
The Beginning of the End
The Fall of Ekroum did not End over one major fight, the Higher Powers in the Fortress were bribed and twisted. their families were threatened and their houses watched all by the Goblins. they Goblins infiltrated Ekroum from the inside out. the major Battle at the End could not have come at a better time. only a few days prior, the King was killed by the Goblin Lords and the Councils of Ekroum were diminished also. the Battle though was brutal. Dwarves were slaughtered and their Bodies mutilated by the vicious assault of the Goblins. they did not go through the front Gate of the Fortress, no they entered through the Tunnels behind it and exploded out of the Mine entrance inside the Fortress. the Battle was swiftly over and the Fortress was taken.
Ekroum under the Goblins
The Dwarves never made any attempt at reclaiming the Fortress. there was no real profit in it only because most of the Gold was ether Buried in rubble or take by the Goblins so the Dwarves saw no point in the matter. after the Goblins had taken Ekroum they build up the Fortress to a much more powerful place then it was. it became a major super power in the Goblin World and even the Dwarven Fortress of Oriesmin respected it's size and power. although both Fortresses shared hate with one another they still had the decency to respect each others work.
